Purushottam Bhat is an unassuming personality. Arriving at Mumbai from Karnataka, he tried various odd jobs to make a living and also studied in a night school. As time passed, he found himself devoting more time at Devi’s feet and realised the special powers Devi was granting him gradually. Though a bachelor, he had no plans to lead a normal family life. Misfire he had the intention or inclination to take the spiritual path. But, it was not he who decided the course and purpose of his life. The omniscient mother had already taken him under her divine command. He had become the chosen one. At this modest abode, it was through him that she would bestow her advise to the numerous devotees who will come here in days to come.

The genesis of Durga Parmeshwari temple can be traced to the older and revered Brahmasthsn at Padbidri, Udipi district Karnataka. Brahmasthsn is a sacred seat of power. It is a spot of divine energy. It is not a temple as one would imagine. Situated amidst a small wooded area, it still uses earthen lamps for light. The Pooja is conducted once in two years beginning 3rd week of January and ending in March. During the festival days, people come here and sit on the sand surface to offer their prayers and submit tender coconuts, flowers and pingara as prasad.

Once the temple received the divine approval of Brahmaathsn, it started gaining popularity. Maru aai temple at Khar Sansa Dan pada also extended it's support to the Devi's new abode.

People of all faiths and all ages came to Durga Parmeshwari temple to take the supreme goddess. Children came on their way to school and sought blessings and prasad. Today, the children of those children continue to uphold the faith and tradition. People started coming here from far and near seeking solutions to their material and spiritual dilemmas. Purushottam Bhat not only offered immediate solutions but also directed them to the root causes. In this way, several devotees were reconnected to their ancestral deities and family traditions so long neglected.

Rise of a renewed belief resulted in reconsecration of so far neglected abodes of worship. Temples like Bijowa, Desuri, Pali in Rajasthan, Navil Subramanya in Puttur district, Karnataka. Ambaji temple of Nakoda, Naag temple of Kashi found a new lease of life in this way. Chamunda devi mandir closed for several years was also reopened. Kshetra pal Jarandaya at Padbidri, Kalletta was consecrated in 2008.
